
Biography Stephen A. Williams
He was born to Homer “Red” and Mae Williams on Feb. 2, 1943, in
Virginia. Being the son of a military family, he grew up moving many
places.
His teenage years were spent in San Rafael, riding the hills with his
beloved horse.
He then graduated in December 1964 from California State
Polytechnic University at San Luis Obispo with a bachelor
of science degree in industrial engineering.
From 1965 to 1969, Steve served in the U.S. Coast Guard as a
Lieutenant J. G., serving in both Hawaii and San Francisco.
When released to the reserves, Steve followed his parents to Napa,
where he remained. As an industrial engineer, he worked for
Enterprise Division, DeLaval Turbine in Oakland, Jenson
Motor Center in Napa, Otis Elevator Co. in Stockton and finally
as a safety engineer for the California Department of Industrial
Relations, CAL-OSHA.
After retiring, he continued to serve as a consultant. Steve also
was self-employed since 1962 with his two businesses,
Steve’s Vintage Tin (sold in 1978) and Steve’s Competition
Engineering, selling Studebaker-Packard parts and service, as well
as Lionel trains.
Steve’s passion was his collection of Studebakers, Packards,
antique Fords and other antique cars and Lionel trains.
He belonged to many organizations: Packards International, Packard
Automobile Club, Studebaker Drivers Club Inc.,
Napa Valley Cruisers, Auburn Cord Duesenberg Club, Toy Train
Operating Society and Golden Gate Lionel Railroad Club, among
others.
Steve faithfully attended church & supported many organizations
that helped people.
He, himself, was always ready to help someone in need.
Steve is survived by many who truly love him. His friends & family
miss him very much.
